Job Description
Description of Project:
This is a short term project carried out by a researcher with Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The research aims to collect quantitative data with rural folks in the district of Kolar. The project is methodologically rigorous and involves data collection through an experiment and questionnaire from couples. If recruited, you will be reading out instructions and collecting data in the experiment and later through a questionnaire. You will be trained in the questionnaire. Work will start early May 2016.

Functions/Responsibilities
- Data collection through questionnaire, data entry, translation and reading of instructions, interpretation of Kannada to English and English to Kannada;
- Travelling to Kolar district is required - maximum of 25 days inclusive of data entry.
Skills required
- A Master's degree in any domain of the Social Sciences is a pre-requisite
- Fluency in Kannada AND English - Written, Spoken and Communication – IS A MUST.
- Willingness to follow instructions
- Ability to form rapport, be patient and non-judgmental
- Interviewing skills
- Willingness to listen, understand and communicate accurately
- Willingness to work in a team as a team player
- Willingness to travel
- Critical thinking skills
Domain of work
Male and Female Research Assistants to help a researcher in collecting data (quantitative) with travel to field (Kolar).
Other Details
Pay will be as per education and experience but will be a minimum of Rs. 800 per day. Travel, food and stay will be taken care of. You will get a certificate of participation/recommendation letter from Professor(s) of a foreign University if the work performed is commendable. Further, if the work is good, you will be recruited for a phase 3 (qualitative interviews).
